Description
This is a beautiful, choice brilliant uncirculated, silver,
"One Pfennig"
from the last year of the
“Free Imperial City”
of Nürnberg or Nuremberg in Germany. Nürnberg had been a Free Imperial City and had struck coins since 1219. This one was struck in 1806 during the year the City became part of Bavaria.
After Napoleon defeated the
“Holy Roman Empire”
at the
“Battle of Austerlitz”
in 1805, he set up the
“Confederation of the Rhine”
. It was decided then that Nürnberg would become part of Bavaria which it did on September 8, 1806, this year. The
“Confederation of the Rhine”
only lasted until 1813. It fell apart after Napoleon’s disastrous retreat from Russia when it became apparent that Napoleon was going to fall.
Weight: 0.27 Grams, 10 Millimeters, Billon or low purity silver. Mintage: Unknown.
But they made five different types of these in 1806 so none of them were high mintage.

Reverse:
Uniface.
The Coin:
Choice brilliant uncirculated. Bright white, it still has beautiful luster. This one got put away in 1806 and has stayed put since. Totally original, it has never been cleaned. As grading is subjective, please see the pictures and judge for yourself.
