This coin was made to celebrate the Swedish King Gustavus Adolphus victory in the Battle of Breitenfeld during the 30 years war.
The 30 years war was one of the most devastating conflicts in European history. During the conflict an estimated 8 million people or roughly 1.4% of the population of Europe died. For reference WWI killed 1.7% of Europe's population.
The war began with Protestant Bohemian Nobles throwing representatives of the Catholic King of Austria out a window in the 2nd Defenestration of Prague (yes that wasn't the first time they threw Catholics out a window).
The war would see Bohemia, Palatanate, Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands, France, Protestant League, Prussia,  Saxony & Transylvania fighting the Austria, Spain, Bavaria, & the Catholic League.
During the Swedish phase of the war, Swedish King Gustavus Adolphus defeated the Austrian & Catholic armies near the city of Erfurt on September 7th 1631, which happened to fall of the Jewish holiday of Purim. This is where the coin gets its name from.
To celebrate this Victory and the conversion of the main Catholic Cathedral to a Protestant one on spetember 7th 1632 a festival was held to celebrate the 1 year anniversary with this coin being struck to commemorate.
The obverse features the old Hebrew word for God that some Protestants use inside a sun. And below that is the words "Thy right hand, oh Lord, has struck the enemy".
The reverse features a quote from Exodus 15:6 “Thy right hand, o Lord, has dashed in pieces the enemy”. The reverse also reads “Purim day of the Evangelicals in 1632, celebrated in Erfurt on 7th September. / Honor and praise be unto God, three times the best and greatest, who had granted Gustavus Adolphus, King of the Swedes, Goths and Wends, victory over the Imperial and the League army near Leipzig on 7 September 1631".
